When I started out making my girlfriend's Generic Winter Holiday (TM) present this year, I definitely did have a plan: a pair of simple, small Yoshi and Birdo plushes. This plan failed spectacularly and quickly. First, I decided that I wanted the arms and legs to be poseable. Then I decided that fingers and toes definitely had to happen. And then apparently I needed far more detail than I'd initially planned, too.
Will I ever attempt these again? 1.) After I get paid in full up front for a commission, and 2.) after I've had some time to bring the mental price down from "infinity dollars".
