Link-bo and Zelda-bo

Link-bo and Zelda-bo

Best rainy day activity for kids and chocobos? Totally dress-up. Grab some fabric, make some props, make a mess (...then clean it up...), and have a blast!

Story of my life: I hadn't really meant these to turn out quite so large... or with so many accessories... but things happen and I'm really, really happy with the result. I don't even know if anyone else will love these as much as I do, but I am remarkably hopeful. The chocobo bodies themselves are redesigned from the inside out, with a much more solid structure to allow more stability, and feature fully wired and poseable toes, legs, wings (along with the first three primary feathers of each wing; the rest are un-wired for easy folding), necks, heads, and feature limited articulated top and bottom beak-jaw-things.

And then the costumes, oh boy. Initially I'd had the idea to do just a couple of super-fancy accessories for each of them, but I just kind of... kept coming to the thought, "Remember when dress-up used to be fun, and cosplay wasn't about exacting proficiency?" So, I decided that I would do something "simple" and make it look at though excited, unpracticed hands made these things. ...I was, at that point, not aware of how insanely difficult it would be. I mean yes, lots of things got simplified, and it was a lot of fun putting it all together! But. That came with figuring out how to make everything look super-simplified while also making them stable and ultimately well-made. I think I finally fulled it off, anyway. And of course they can swap outfits. I mean, come on.

Thank you burningdragoon for your generosity with a final bid of $719.00!

Pillars of the Triforce

Pillars of the Triforce

No matter how long it is lost or hidden, there are always those who keep the memory of the Triforce.

Wanted to try a little something different along the lines of my Triforce bracelets.  Of course this turned out far more complicated than I'd hoped and for strengthening purposes I had to backtrack a bit more than I'd planned--but it worked!  Love those green breads.  Too bad they keep climbing in price.  Gah.

As for the name, well... the gold connections looked like pillars.  I know, what a special significance!  And, you know, 9 pillars, 3 pieces of the Triforce, 3 x 3...  It made sense in my mind, somehow.

Sparkly Hylian Shield

Sparkly Hylian Shield

So. Um. What insanity. 34 Swarovski crystals. Hand-set. So, as you can see... Ocarina of Time still has a place in my heart.

For those of you who are not insane Legend of Zelda fans, this is the shield carried by Link, the Hero of Time. Well, it's mostly the shield. It's sort of an abstract of an abstract with SPARKLY but... yeah.

Glittering Triforce

Painstakingly wire-wrapped luscious Swarovski crystals make an absolutely perfect display of geek pride.  I've bene so happy to do so many of these over the years, both in gold-plated and gold-filled gold.  I can always take a commission for them.

Hylian Royal Crest Corset Cuff

Hylian Royal Crest Corset Cuff

Ask me where my love of gaming began and I'll tell you a tale about a vicious little game called The Legend of Zelda. No matter how many times I had to put the controller down, I always came back. I don't think anything will ever overcome Ocarina of Time as my favorite, though.

And so somewhere along the line, for some INSANE AND STUPID reason, I decided to take on this monster. But damn it's shiny. The color scheme was inspired by one of FusedElegance's designs. The rest is... all me. All painfully me. From creating the pattern from several sources to the (obviously) actual beading and design... yeah. 3,014 individual glass beads, woven together individually by hand over the course of two weeks, and a silk ribbon that refuses to properly photograph in the gorgeously vibrant emerald color that it actually is. I am not doing this again unless I get paid, in full, first. Even if I do want to make a solid gold version on a black background.

Spiritual Stones

Spiritual Stones

"The Temple of Time is the entrance through which you can enter the Sacred Realm from our world. But the entrance is sealed with a stone wall called the Door of Time. And, in order to open the door, it is said that you need to collect three Spiritual Stones." - Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

I've made a number of these sets over the years and still manage to constantly be improving the design and stability.  I can also always be commissioned for them.

Leather Hylian Arm Cuff

Leather Hylian Arm Cuff

Alright, who didn't see this coming with my first real leather project? ...Okay, me, but it worked out somehow. Technically speaking, this is pretty awful. Learning by doing means making a lot of mistakes, and they're all here. That said... I managed to swing with it and turn it into something awesome, because mistakes are what lazy people call missed opportunities.

Yes, it's leather. Hand-tooled so that the crest rises slightly above the background, which the pictures... kind of do an okay job representing. (Pictures from the side all came out awful.) It is of course sparkly shiny gold, and rich semi-shiny green (the green extends to the back, as well). The ribbon is 100% silk and an earthy brown/dark bronze color. It's shaped so that it can fit just about any arm size, so no worries there. It's not recommended to be used as a wrist cuff, however, because that would require the leather to bend more, and that would more than likely crack the leather itself.
