They're shiny 'cause they're beads!

Murai

Murai

09 December 2011

Murai always finds himself attracted to lights. The glow of a full moon, a sky full of stars, the sight of a city in the distance. What really draws his attention are colorful, flashing lights used as winter holiday decorations; and, wouldn't you know it, he manages to blend into the decorations just fine.

I'd been wanting to make another jewel dragon like Tivona for a very long time. So I finally did it between commissions, and totally lost track of the days. I'm glad about that, though. I don't really want to know. The wings alone took... a really long time.

Murai represents both streamlining old techniques and trying new things, and I'm really quite happy with him. With a gentle touch, he is fully poseable, constructed in part with wire for that purpose.

Levi

Levi

It's a first attempt at a lot of things... but I think he's kind of a giant leap. I like him. A lot. A damn lot. It's obviously taking quite a bit of what I've learned up to this point and mixing it together to create happy shiny Levi. He is, in fact, a bracelet with the catch hidden a little bit better into the design. The hook isn't so much, but being beneath his jaw, I just plain didn't mind that part.

And for the name... Levi. Three different shades of blue, Levi... Levis... oh nevermind.

Kerian

Kerian

29 November 2011

He's the result of a trip to the bead store and an "Oooh" being proclaimed about those sapphire-colored drops. Oh, and the extremely intensely shiny beads, which pictures will never do justice. He is blindingly bright in a myriad of sparkly colors, most of which stick to the blue-ish part of the spectrum (but reds and golds are still found). So he is shiny.

As for Kerian himself... well, he's a little... insane. Not in a bad way, really... but maybe not in the "Oh, he would make a great babysitter for little Timmy" way. Not that you'll have anything to worry about... so long as you keep him well fed.

While the ocean in her home, the beach is her preferred hunting ground. Or... not so much "hunting ground" as "people-watching hangout", but you know. You do have to act tough when you're from the ocean. Not that she won't go nuts over saltwater taffy.

She's been over half finished for a while now, waiting to hear back from someone... but I couldn't wait any longer. She needed to be finished, so here she is. I kinda splurged on the beads for her tail a while ago, so I'm finally making use of them. And really... they're just gorgeous on her. She's really got a lovely sparkle.

Eravin

Eravin

I have come to the belief that Eravin exists simply to be adored. It was clear by the way he stared at me late one night, begging me to finish wiring his tail and feet so he could be even more adorable as he stared up at me with those green eyes... He's a hard fella to resist, I tell you. Beware being talked out of sweets with this one.

Lull between projects. So what do I do? Wear my wrist down further. *grin* Ah, it was worth it.

Elia

Elia

She's very young and rather small even for her age, but don't take her for granted. She has perfected the "head tilt and pleading eyes", by which she acquires all of the tasty treats she desires. Don't worry, though. She's very kind-hearted and will certainly share.

Poor girl waited an awfully long time to be done. I was focused on convention stuff and "another insane bead project" that will appear in public... whenever it's done. Anyway. She's actually a magnificently VIBRANT red-orange and shimmery gold with red Swarovski crystals, but... that doesn't always seem to be clear in the pictures.

Dragon Maleficent

Dragon Maleficent

She was intended for a contest, but details of that got foiled in various ways, various times and... well, she's been sitting, waiting for her chance. The other day I walked in the room and noticed her and thought, "No. She needs the world to see her now. And maybe someone will really want to cherish her in the way she deserves."

I'm proud of her, besides. I always did love Maleficent, and despite how I have completely taken it upon myself to forget what a horrible experience her boss fight in Kingdom Hearts was, it was also one of those fun "two worlds meeting" things. Hence, awesome shininess!

Dragon Earring Commission for DD

Dragon Earring Commission for DD

Baby dragon earrings come in clip-on, too! Heh. The colors were requested and approved, and I got to work. These little lovelies are the result. And I should probably not mention that they remind me of candy canes. Anyway, these turned out very well and I really hope you're happy with them, D.D.
