Dandelion quite joyfully embraces what she calls "the finer qualities of weeds". She's also kind of really interested in dandelions as snacks, so it's a good thing they're relatively easy to grow.
The simplest of desires were latched onto this year: 1.) RAINBOW, 2.) using up some old yarn and using a lot of other materials I've had around for quite a while. Alas, this is mostly acrylic yarn, but the beak and feet are a wool acrylic blend. Stuffing is polyfil because shredded cotton was a little too heavy for what I had in mind, and the glass eyes are positively ancient by anyone's standards. Tail, primary feathers, neck, feet and toes are all stainless steel wire armature, the jaw opens and closes, upper and lower beak moving independently for a few possible expressions, and the primary wing feathers can be tucked in or arranged in various stares of openness. Lots of posing options! There's a little something new with "softer" back toes, because I'd noticed the balance could be thrown off way too easily when the back toes were a little too rigid. This way she's much more easy to "shuffle" into a more sturdy standing position.
I also decided that I couldn't let her go without an accessory, so I did some stainless steel wire wrapping on an amethyst heart. A little bit of "fire in the heart" as a concept-ish. Of course it's possible to remove and put on another cord or chain, she wouldn't mind sharing.
In all, she is 11.5 inches to the top of her crest, has a full wingspan of 11 inches, and from chest to tail is 6 inches. ...We will not discuss whether she will fit in the shipping box yet, but technically yes.
Soon the be available via Desert Bus for Hope!
