I came across this lovely little shop in the town next door recently, and took a look at their jewelry. Lovely stuff, I must admit. And then I looked closer. "I can do that."
So I... did. *grin* Well, the original was covered in beads. I... didn't have that many. *cough* Nor did I have the astounding variety. But for what I already had, I think this turned out beautifully. Reminds me of a dragon's hoard for no particular reason, as well.
It was a very interesting experiment. I had a bunch of those little red drops, see... and I had bought them for a necklace idea, but then I found the red didn't really work as well as the green and... then I was left with finding something else to do with them. So... ta-da! Randomly learning a few more weaves, as well. Dragonscale is HARD in such a small scale. Ugh. Looks awesome, though.
Oh, and there's that one blue shiny bead in the middle... it just belonged there. Looks nicer in person than in the pictures, I'm afraid. So, is it messy? Yes. Do I absolutely like it that way? Definitely.
Not quite my style, I must admit. But I got an idea and I obvious ran with it. Ran into some walls with it, too. Let's just say that if I were to price this based on the amount of patience it took, it would be several thousands of dollars.
Well, I wanted to try something new and different. ...This is it, alright. Sort of a blend of a lot of techniques I've been working on.
Sadly, you can't see the occasional red accents in these pictures, but... it's still purdy.
I hadn't quite intended this--but I was quite proud of it. Is it still messy? Oh yeah. Very clear I'm just starting off... but I have to admit that I really kind of like that look. And maybe I'm the only one that notices, but... yeah. I'm so happy with this one.
I managed to learn exceptionally simplistic bead wrapping, a helm weave, and finally get the hang of a spiral weave even if it's not terribly visible (I tried to make it longer and cross it over before it got to the finger to show off more, but... somehow it just didn't look right; I may play with it more, though). The "heart" came about by total accident when I was screwing around with two separate bands and I just kinda went with it. So, experiment successful. I did what I always manage to do: lean something "the right way", then completely screw it up and make it my own. *grin* Hey, I'm happy with this. And it makes a lovely clattering noise.
