Pyrria

Pyrria

Despite appearances, Pyrria is actually quite shy.  She opens up and becomes the life of the party when she's comfortable, but until then she is more than content to explore on her own or find a nice little quiet spot to roost and sing to herself.

Pyre birds are often mistaken for phoenixes by (hopefully) well-meaning but generally easily-distracted or just plain inattentive mages, magicians and alchemists.  They're more closely related to dragons than they are to phoenixes, legs designed for running at high speeds and leaping.  That's not to say they don't fly, of course; they rely more on self-made heated air (in part thanks to the heartstone) to stay afloat than their wings.  There was some, shall we say, "unpleasantness" a while back regarding humans and their inability to keep their hands off sparklies that they proclaimed as their own, hence why pyre birds are rarely seen these days.

Things that I had planned: using "flower" beads for the wings and tail, trying a polymer clay beak, and giving her roadrunner feet.  (Roadrunners are cool, be quiet.)  Things I did not plan: EVERYTHING ELSE.  That said, I'm really quite happy with how she turned out.  My days of chocobo making paying off, eh?

The "heartstone" is a great big lovely goldstone cabochon, and her eyes are green aventurine.  There are many, many beads, both glass and acrylic.  And by some strange miracle, I've only managed to include six Swarovski crystals.  Six!  But I did manage to use ALL of the gold-colored wire I had.  Every last inch.  And quite a lot of silver, too, though that's part of the internal structure.  I had planned to give her a hinged/moveable jaw, but ultimately decided that the initial design would probably wear out far too fast and it was a little too late for a redesign, so... it's set this time.  We'll see if there's a "next time" at some point.  ...I don't want to think about that right now.

Side note: she's also very good with dogs.

Sparkly Hylian Shield

Sparkly Hylian Shield

So. Um. What insanity. 34 Swarovski crystals. Hand-set. So, as you can see... Ocarina of Time still has a place in my heart.

For those of you who are not insane Legend of Zelda fans, this is the shield carried by Link, the Hero of Time. Well, it's mostly the shield. It's sort of an abstract of an abstract with SPARKLY but... yeah.

Spiritual Stones

Spiritual Stones

"The Temple of Time is the entrance through which you can enter the Sacred Realm from our world. But the entrance is sealed with a stone wall called the Door of Time. And, in order to open the door, it is said that you need to collect three Spiritual Stones." - Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

I've made a number of these sets over the years and still manage to constantly be improving the design and stability.  I can also always be commissioned for them.

Bunny Bracelet

Bunny Bracelet

So, um... yes, a new addiction called Tiger & Bunny. A new addiction that treats me so well that it had to have a couple of awesome shinies made in its honor. The Great Enabler Schala-Kitty pushed some vector art on me (no, really!) of Wild Tiger's and Bunny's/Barnaby's suit insignias, and, well... I got to work doing them with no background to help me out. For I am a fool that way. But look at how shiny!

Bunny's insignia actually didn't give me nearly as much trouble as Tiger's... but getting the band to work out created its own challenges. So much for thinking it can ever be easy.

Those floating beads of the jaw and neck, man... those were a "learning experience", alright.

Call Bracelets

Call Bracelets

So. Um. ...I just had to do a mock-up of every single hero "call bracelet" from Tiger & Bunny for some reason. Left to right, top to bottom: Wild Tiger Green, Barnaby Brooks Jr. (Bunny) Red, Rock Bison Bronze, Origami Cyclone Gray, Dragon Kid Yellow, Sky High Purple, Blue Rose Blue, and Fire Emblem Orange. There's also a pink one in the making. Why pink? ...Why not pink?

They are all available as made-to-order bracelets over at my Etsy shop, in both single-sided versions and double-sided versions. Custom colors are also an option. If either of the listings ever "disappear", that's because I'm currently working on fulfilling an order; just drop me an Etsy message and I'll let you know when they're available again.

Black Tiger Call Bracelet

Black Tiger Call Bracelet

It was bound to happen eventually. I'm more than happy to make these along with the standard double-sided or single-sided call bracelets, but this particular one pictured is mine. Ahem.

(If you are new to, or do not know about, the Tiger & Bunny fandom, then Black Tiger is kind of a non-canon fan creation. A very, very good one.)

Tron Lives Bracelet Set

Tron Lives Bracelet Set

(Also known as, "Way Too Damn Far for a Joke".)

Yes, I loved Tron: Legacy. But all it really did was remind me of how much I loved the original Tron... and the character. And no, dammit, this is not a spoiler. If I had to explain to you why this is not a spoiler, then it would be a spoiler. Don't sass me.

...Anyway. Design-wise, I decided to go for old-style text in new-style colors. Each individual bracelet is comprised of 1,372 tiny glass beads, each individually woven together, and one Swarovski button. For those of you paying attention, yes, there are 2,744 shiny glass beads and two Swarovski crystal buttons. Woven together with super-strong thread, by hand. When I say it took a week, I do mean seven days. And on the seventh day I declared myself to be a lost cause and a Tron fan. Rock on, programs.
