Transformers Combiner Elita-Infin1te
I'd had the "Jet Elita-1" (from the Power of
the Primes line) for quite some time before I decided to fulfill her
combiner destiny. Sort of. It's... a story. There are
a few of those in here, I suppose.
First off, Elita-1 is
supposed to be the head and torso of Orthia, the official combiner made of very specific
vehicles. Being a bit late to the party, I got a pretty good deal
on every figure but one: Greenlight, the Amazon exclusive. Why
did she skyrocket in value? Because she could, I'm guessing, as
I do distinctly remember her being discounted twice while being
very slowly sold on Amazon, and I still didn't pick her up.
Because
Amazon. Big shrug, I had no plans to build Orthia at the time so
no need to grab the official limb-bot anyway. Haven't really
checked Ebay since I saw a much appreciated million dollar auction with
no
pictures and a very bitter write-up by someone equally annoyed by the
situation who has
probably gotten past their temporary Ebay ban by
now. Toys be serious business, you know how it is.
Anyway,
the not-official version of Orthia is supposed to be called
Elita-Infin1te. I use them interchangeably, because I am me, but I'll try to stick to not-Orthia here.
She is style and grace.
And all the other good things. And big. Seemed important to open
with her completed form... or completed to me. Don't worry, I'll come
back to the feet later.
She is composed of these fabulous gals!
...And Lancer. What happened to my boxed Lancer pictures? I
sure would love to know myself. They seem to have spontaneously
disappeared, which is more than a little bit obnoxious, but rest
assured I also got to tear into her packaging too.
And the back of
everything, because of course. ...None of this exists anymore,
but attempts were made at recycling.
Beauty, elegance, really fast things. Chromia
is quite obviously not quite the same
anything
as the other cars, but don't worry, I (and Ebay) fixed it. I do
actually appreciate the effort made in assuring that each car is
different aside from just color changes, however. And they all
roll just fine.
In various states of transformation! Clearly
Elita-1 is tall regardless, but all of the
carbots can form either arms or legs. Chromia needed a little
help in this regard since she's not intended to be part of a combiner
at all, but it's pretty easy with the others.
And while Titans Return Arcee (aka "the pink one")
is not technically remotely related to this line or this combiner...
well, Elita-Infin1te is "big wife" and Arcee is "little wife", okay,
deal.
Also look upon the
accessories! Guns and hands/more guns/backpacks and Chromia's conversion
add-ons and... feet. Feet with tiny little peg ankles. For
that whole big heavy combined robot. That is exactly as fun as it
sounds. (Read: it's not fun at all, it is very dumb in fact.)
To speak of the Chromia... I
hesitate to give names because the particular person who printed this
no longer has an Ebay account, but searching for "Chromia conversion
parts" may still get you what you want if you too are looking.
Surely the 3D print file is out there somewhere if you happen to have access to a 3D printer as well. It contains a block
for the feet, so she herself can become a foot, and a whole shoulder
joint if she's to be an arm. Very easy to install, but
unfortunately due to the nature of the joints and smooth plastic, the arm can't
particularly hold much weight. Potential solutions could be
figured out, though.
An arm demonstration with Chromia and Lancer!
Another downside: having to get a loose blue hand from Ebay as well,
since Chromia doesn't come with one. Luckily inexpensive loose
Transformers parts are still extremely easy to find on Ebay, and you
could buy a handful of Chromia + conversion kits + hands for the price
of one Greenlight. The
blue's not an
exact match,
but enough.
B I
G W I F E. Considering absolutely everything that can
and will go wrong with individual parts, Elita-Infin1te is actually
pretty damn stable. In all but the feet. But like I said,
I'll get to that. She also towers above all of my other
Transformers, though she's about right at the same height as my Beast
Wars Transmetals II Megatron and Cryotek, depending on how upright I
have them standing.
Mastermind Creations' Inventa Magna is taller, but sshhh, I don't have any unofficial 3rd party Transformers, sshhh. Does it make me want more combiners? A
little. I need to eventually grab more parts for not-Sky
Reign or he will continue to be armless, but boy do I want to get a
better foot situation going.
Of
course
the ass shot is necessary, come on. ...I both am and am not
surprised that there is a slightly rounded sculpted ass
there. Tiny but real.
Now we get to the feet. This
is what she stands on. Two of them.
They are not enough.
The pegs also disconnect every single time I lift her up and the feet
drop off, so putty has been a necessary element for some time
now. I just feel like this could have been better in roughly
8457839758943745437547594375 ways, but she
does technically stand up. And as seen in the picture above this, you
can
attach the extra hand pieces of the bots you're using for additional
stability at the back of each foot... but that makes them just that
much heavier and likely to drop off.
It is so
difficult to find a good well-lit space large enough to get a decent
photograph of something like this, but I tried. She is very much
big enough for Play Arts Kai weapons.
Example #2.
Sittin'. Having a nice chat. You can see the feet are also
supposed to be either some extra armor for Elita-1 or guns with those
flip-out "this is a gun" pegs but if I write any more about that I will
make a very terrible and very obvious joke so we'll just let the
audience have that one.
All told, it was very worthwhile to wait until I could snag the rest of
the robots for this gal, because she's more than a little
striking. And I get to remind everyone that the Elita-1 figure
actually has two heads depending on what mode she's in, which is just
as slightly unsettling as it seems like it would be. I love
Transformers.
Bonus shot, for reasons.
It must be said that I like this color scheme better with Chromia's
blue than I would with Greenlight's pea green and white. So, win.
